  1. Hot Lunch: Kraft Dinner @ $1.50. Helpers are: Carola Adams, Tammy Gesner. 

  2. Bake Potato: On Tuesdays until further notice bake potatoes will be available for $1.50. Please order and pay for potato on Mondays. 

  3. Skating: Wednesday, February 22, grade 4 – 6, 10:30 – 11:30 am @ Willie O’Ree Place. Wednesday, February 29, grades 7 – 12. February 29 will be the last skating for the year. 

  4. Senior Boys Basketball: The Senior boys basketball team will be playing at Harbour Station on Friday, February 24 @ 9:00 pm.

  6. Serious About Prayer: Please Join Mrs. Fiske in the Sanctuary every Wednesday from 9:00 - 9:30 am in prayer for all the work the Lord is doing at Devon Park Christian School, in the lives of its staff, students, and their families. Come expecting great things. Make your petitions known unto Him! 

  7. Bowl-a-thon and Family Fun Night March 31: All students from K-12 received their pledge sheets. The goal per student is to raise $45. Students are encouraged to do their best to collect their limit before March Break. An early bird $50 gift certificate will be awarded to the student who raises the most funds before February 23. Other prizes for the top fundraising classes and top students will be award at the end. 

    Another part of the bowl-a-thon is the Corporate Lane Sponsors which are $100 per lane. The Corporate lane sponsor is an excellent opportunity for business to advertise and support the bowl-a-thon. We were blessed last year to have 38 corporate sponsors. Sponsor letters are available in the school office.

  3. Bolivia Items Collected: Items are being gathered to take to Bolivia. Each grade is asked to collect the following items:
    Grades K – 3: Shoes for early walkers, sneakers 10 – 4, plastic diaper pants, shampoo and vitamins. 
    Grades 4 – 6: Baby wash items: Infant sleepers, tops and pants for boys & girls, underwear, socks, shoes.
    Grades 7 – 8: Compassion: coloured paper (for crafts), graph paper, pencils, sharpeners, erasers, pencil crayons, stickers. 
    Grade 9 – 11: Toothpaste & brushes (tots), Hair accessories, brushes, combs, shampoo, towels, socks (children’s & men’s), stickers, craft supplies, lego, ball, deflated balls, sponge balls.

    Anyone who has a Compassion child in Cochabamba and would like to send a parcel or backpack to their child with us – please label clearly with the child’s name, number and project number. Items in package need to be listed. 

    Deadline for all items is Monday, February 20, 2012. Please do not drop off items after date note above. 

  4. 2nd Annual DPCS Bowl-a-thon and Family Fun Night: Mark your calendars for the 2nd Annual DPCS Bowl-a-thon and Family Fun Night Saturday March 31st 6-8pm at Kingswood. Last year’s event, organized by the Parent Committee, raised $10,000 for the school. Funds are raised by students collecting pledges and lane corporate sponsorships. Over 400 students, friends and family members attend the last year and it was a blast with something to do for the entire family. More details will be coming over the next few weeks. The Parent committee is looking for extra volunteers to help with this event and to make it another huge success. If you are interested please contact the school office. 

  5. Serious About Prayer: Please Join Mrs. Fiske in the Sanctuary every Wednesday from 9:00 - 9:30 am in prayer for all the work the Lord is doing at Devon Park Christian School, in the lives of its staff, students, and their families. Come expecting great things. Make your petitions known unto Him! 

  6. Lost & Found: All lost and found items are on display in the foyer until Wednesday afternoon. 

  7. Senior Boys Basketball: The Sr. Boys basketball team will be playing on Friday and Saturday in Belleisle (1800 Rte. 124, Springfield, NB, near Hatfield’s Point). Friday’s Game @ 6:30 pm against ECB. Winner will play on Saturday, February 18 @ 1:00 pm. (Play winner of McAdam & Belleisle). Saturday’s game determines who goes to Harbour Station on Friday, February 24.

    • Students are to be picked up after school by 3:30 pm.
    • During basketball games children are not to be running throughout the building.
    • They are to be under parent supervision at all times. 
    • Students are not to wear gym type pants to school.

Please note that Friday will be a regular half day for grades k-5 and Monday will be the turn around day.

  3. Pennies for Bolivia: Miss Longworth continues to collect any spare pennies you may have. Just send them into the school anytime. 

  4. Storm Day Procedure: Please read the following: Storm day calls follow District #18. When district #18 is closed due to weather, DPCS closes there will not be a separate announcement for DPCS. When District #18 announces “delayed opening” DPCS will open at the regular time – 8:30 am. On storm days when school remains open, parents are asked to use their own judgement regarding driving to school. The following number for district #18 cancellations can be called: 453-5455. If school is cancelled due to a problem within the building (e.g.: Furnace, Power etc.) an email if possible will be sent out and the following radio stations will be called: Joy fm (96.5), CBC (99.5), Fox (105). When school is closed all school activities scheduled for that day are cancelled.

  6. Exam Schedule: Exam schedule is a separate attachment. Exams are from Monday, January 23 – Thursday, January 26. On Friday, January 27 no school for grades K – 12. Friday is a marking day and a possible snow day if school is cancelled earlier in the week. Monday, January 30 no school for grades 6 – 12; Elementary K – 5 attend a regular school day. 

  7. Bolivia: It is time for us to start getting our bags ready for Bolivia. If you feel you would like to help us gather things to share with those we meet we would appreciate your participation. The Grades will collect the following: 

    Grades K – 3: Jennifer Thompson and her three orphanages: Shoes for early walkers, sneakers size 10 – 4, plastic diaper pants, shampoo and vitamins. 
    Grades 4 – 6: Baby Wash: Infant sleepers, tops and pants for boys & girls, underwear, socks, shoes.

  9. Appreciation: Thank-you to all who donated items and/or their time for the Community turkey dinner held here on Friday, December 23. There was a great turn out. Such a great ministry! 

  10. Withdrawing Students: A family that withdraws their child/ren after September 30 will be charged an additional 2 months tuition payment. (Page 12 Handbook)

  2. Yearbook Orders: The 2011-2012 yearbooks are for sale in the school office. Prices are as follows:

  3. Staff & Student Turkey Meal: Please do not get this meal confused with the one stated below in item #4 (Community Turkey Dinner on Friday, December 23). This meal is for Staff and Students (K-12) and will be served on Wednesday, December 21 @ 12:00 pm. An email was sent out on Monday regarding what items each grade is to donate for the meal. Thank-you. 

  4. Community Turkey Dinner: All the food items have been donated. Please have food items in the kitchen by Thursday morning. If you would like to help by serving, preparing food, set up, please contact the school office. Community turkey supper will be served on Friday, December 23, 2011 from 4:00 – 6:00 pm. 

  5. Christmas Concert: The Christmas concert will be held on Thursday, December 22 @ 11:00 am. The dress code for students participating in the concert is: Red or Green top, Dark Bottoms. School will end at noon for all students (K – 12).

  4. Annual School Turkey Dinner: The school’s annual Christmas Dinner is bigger and better! It will be held on Wednesday, December 21 @ 12:00 noon in the gym for grades K – 12 and staff. There will be Scripture readings, music, food and fellowship for all! At the end of the meal there will be special Christmas themed movie for grades K – 8 upstairs in the sanctuary. The following food items are needed for the big day and we are requesting your help. Please bring items in on December 20 for preparation: (Families with more than one student in the school please pick one grade for an item)
    Grades K – 5: 1 Dessert/Family

    Grades 6:
1 Dozen rolls/student
    Grades 7 & 8: 
Cheese & Pickles
    Grades 9 -12:
 Carrots, Butter, Frozen Corn

The only food item left to donate is 2 – 50lb bags of potatoes and some pans of Treats. All other food items have been donated at this time. Thank-you to all who are willing to help! If you can help in food prep, set up, serve, clean up, please contact the school office.

Turbo Card: the Bolivia Missions Team are presently selling Turbo Cards. The cards are good until November 30, 2012. The cost is only $5.00 and has the following merchants on it:
The Grill on York, Beairisto’s Family Restaurant, Vanelli’s Italia Food, Kingswood, Magnetic Hill, McGinnis Landing, KFC (Regent Mall), Burger King, Delta, Blue Door, Great Canadian Bagel, Jungle Jim’s, Pizza Twice, Cabin Restaurant, Taco Bell.

    For $5.00 if you use it once you have earned back your investment. Most coupons on the card are buy one get one free. The cards may be purchased from the school office, Mr. Fox, or one of the grade 12 students. Thank-you for your support!
